Other Gambling Games

There's more to gambling than Texas poker; table games and computer games abound. Long before poker's claim to fame and wide TV coverage there was blackjack, slots and bingo. In the back of taverns, in America and England, these games were played. Some of them have even reached Asian territories and have become holiday traditions.

Gambling is one of the finest things a man could do, if he's good at it. Some people have made a profession of it; but for the most part, gambling is more for fun than incidental profit. Some games are more than card counting and tactics - some are just for fun, more chance, for the random spark of victory and to blow off steam.

Here are a few examples of such games.

Another old favorite is blackjack, the most widely played casino game in the world. Originating in France, its precursor was vingt-en-un ("Twenty-One"). You win by having a hand that adds up to 21. Cards two to ten are normal, face cards are worth ten. An ace is special card, worth eleven normally - but if would make you lose because it brought your total over twenty-one, it was only worth one. While card counting originated from blackjack, that tactics requires dedication and forethought, leaving the rest to just enjoy their card games. This is a favorite, as it requires nothing more than rudimentary addition, players and a pack of cards.

Playing slots is another example of gambling that's more fun that tactical. In gaming, repetitive action sometimes offers more thrills than ever changing variables and constant pressure. Slots is simple - you activate the trigger, often a lever or a button which spins three or more reels. The cash payout is dependent on the pattern that may or may not emerge. Slots are more often than not, casino owned as they are expensive to own and maintain.

Bingo is another completely random game, where you are given cards with rows of numbers. An adjudicator randomly picks numbers [or letter and number combination] and if a card has it, it is marked off. Victory is achieved when all the numbers are ticked off. The game itself is very relaxed, allowing for socialization and conversation. To play this, you will need to buy the bingo set, which is sometimes found in toy stores.

There are more games of chance to tickle the lucky twine and the four leafed clover. These are only a few examples and if these don't make you rub your hands together with glee, don't worry - there's always more to bet on.
